I hope it's the first case. I used to write a lot of guides in the past, some very well received on many sites (for example, Doom 3, Super Mario Galaxy & Ys: Oath in Felghana). The last guide I wrote was around 2007, so I've been gone for a while. Why do I return? I honestly don't know, but I'm willing to give it another shot. Enough about me, more about the game. Lucius is a 3rd-person "adventure" game, where you control a young boy who follows orders from the devil. The goal is to empty the mansion you're living in, without anyone finding out. You get several powers throughout the game to help you with this goal. Can you do it? ============================================================================= Walkthrough [LC.02.01] ============================================================================= Before we start, there are a few things you should take note of. * In order to use your supernatural powers, you will consume your power bar. This bar will deplete when you are using said powers, or when you are standing near a cross. If the latter is the case, you can notice so because the screen is blurry and pulsating. You can turn the cross around to fix the problem, but they might randomly reset between chapters. * Do chores as soon as you can to get them out of the way and to get some rewards. See the chores chapter for more information on how to do them. * Don't carry items in the open you shouldn't have in your possession (for example something you stole). You'll get the message that someone sees you if this is the case, so you have plenty of time to hammer the right mouse button. * It seems the people in the world of Lucius are deaf. Don't be afraid to run past someone instead of sneaking. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1 - Cold as Hell [LC.02.02] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's Lucius' sixth birthday, and as a special birthday gift, he has to help the maid with the dishes. What a lucky kid. You'll start in the kitchen, and you'll be prompted to press [SPACE] to see a short HUD introduction, so do so. It'll show you the current power you have selected (right now it's just the command to use objects), your presense meter, your skill level and the power bar. It'll become more clear what they are for when you actually gain your first superpower, so don't worry too much about it. On the table is a padlock, pick it up with [MOUSE1] to add it to your inventory. You can put it back in your inventory with [MOUSE2]. Handy in case you're carrying something you shouldn't be carrying around. Move to the freezer door and close it with [MOUSE1] (if you have nothing selected). Now bring out your padlock and use it on the freezer door. The final trick is to adjust the temperature of the freezer with the control panel to the left of the door. Good bye Mary, we hardly knew you. Later that evening, much later, you wake up and might notice a lot of things are on fire. This means the devil is visiting you and wants to talk to you. He'll explain you need to gather souls for him. First, pick up the notebook from the desk. This is your journal and will tell you what to do next, and keep track of other stuff too. Open your inventory with [E] and select the notebook. Note you can also press [Q] to do this. *** Notebook update *** Mary is cleaning the cooler. I found a padlock on the table. This could be useful. Mary has frozen to death. I should get the padlock back to no one will suspect that it was me. You will also get a flashlight and batteries as a gift. Pick them both up and open your inventory. Now use [MOUSE2] to combine the two. You can press [F] to quickly bring out your flashlight. Try shining it at the devil and notice the shadow. Creepy. Now it's time to do as the notebook suggests and get the padlock back. Although it's in the middle of the night and it's dark in the house, there's no risk of being caught right now, so sprint all you want using [LEFT SHIFT]. Your goal is obviously the kitchen and with the help of the map ([M]) you can find your way there. In short: leave your room, swing left, open the door at the end of the hallway on the right, go into the room on the left, head downstairs, open the door on the left and then the door on the right. When in the kitchen, simply interact with the padlock to gain your first real power - telekinesis and also finish the first chapter. *** Notebook update *** I took the padlock. I should put this in my pocket so no one will find it. It might become useful later. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2 - Smoking Kills [LC.02.03] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- A friend of your father called Gene is visiting to discuss the horrible death of Mary. There's one problem, he smokes and Lucius doesn't like that one bit. *** Notebook update *** He visits my father sometimes for business. I hate when he smokes in the dining room. Gives me a headache. Head towards the stairs and notice that the handyman, Igor, is busy fixing a lamp and he's also quite an ass and drunk. Grab his screwdriver and head down to the main area. Walk towards Gene and he'll ask about your life. Move behind his chair, and when he's not looking grab his matches from the table. *** Notebook update *** I have stolen Gene's matches. Now the only way for him to light his cigarettes is with the oven. I should set up a trap of some kind. The oven has a system that prevents that gas leaking out. I need a tool of some sort for this. Well, we do have a tool for this, and we know where the kitchen is by now. Quickly run there before Gene gets up and combine the screwdrivers with the oven. *** Notebook update *** The oven is rigged and Gene does not have a clue. Now all we have to do is wait... And that's indeed all we have to do. Gene will walk in and literally burn his face off with the trap we build. That's one more down. During the night the devil visits you again. He'll teach you how to use your telekineses. All you have to do is press [2] (use [1] to back to interaction mode when you need to) and complete a few simple tasks. In short, you can move objects, break them and sometimes turn machines on/off. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3 - Tone-Death [LC.02.04] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's a rainy day, but the real start of the game. You're giving a bit more freedom in what you want to do. Head downstairs and notice the nanny, Nancy, moving downstairs too. Wait for her in the main room, and she'll give you your first chore. I suggest doing it now, see the chores section for help with them. For now, you can only complete two. Once you're done, find the room labeled "WC" on your map on the first floor. Here you'll find the next target, Ivo. *** Notebook update *** He is always drunk. He probably won't notice if I change his plans up a bit. It won't take long until Ivo feels the need to take a little nap near the toilet. This is your time to get to work. Grab the wrenches from his toolbox (three in total) and the pencil next to his notebook. Use the pencil on the notebook to add a task (fix the piano). *** Notebook update *** I have stolen a wrench. Maybe I should break something with this. Not a big shock there, but you'll have to use the wrench to sabotage the piano in the main room. Move there, and use the 1/2 inch wrench on it. You should be able to do this before Ivo gets there before you. *** Notebook update *** Ok now I should get him here somehow. Hide near the television and wait for Ivo to get on his knees to look at the pedals of the piano. *** Notebook update *** Maybe now I can use some of my new abilities. Switch to your telekineses power and use it on the piano. Bye Ivo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 4 - Cutting Edge [LC.02.05] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since it stopped raining, a lot more of the mansion opened up. You can visit pretty much all the rooms on the first, second and third floor. I suggest you do the chores to get to know the layout of the house. Now is a good time to do chore 3 (taking out the garbage). When you're done, walk to the cold room (it's the room on the right when you walk down the stairs). Here you'll you'll meet the next target - Jed. *** Notebook update *** He is working here with raw meat... I should try to find a way to mess with him. Talk to Jed to get a chore. Right now I suggest doing all the chores you can do. Note that you can accept multiple chores from different people. More coming soon... ============================================================================= Chores [LC.03.01] ============================================================================= Being a good helper of the devil also means being a good boy sometimes and actually doing chores. You'll get rewards for doing chores, so it's not a lost cause. The rewards are: * Ouija board - Gives you hints * Music box - Use this to get a one-time hint on where to go. Has 6 uses. * Bicycle - Move around the house "faster". I find the controls to be rather annoying, so I much rather just run around the house. Chore 1: Clean my room Who: Nancy, after you have have stolen the wrench How: Head back to your room on the third floor. You'll notice some toy cars lying about. Pick them up (or use telekinesis if you're that lazy) and put them back in the chest near the door. After a few cars you've completed your chore. Chore 2: Brush my teeth Who: Nancy, after completing chore 1 How: On the third floor, there is a room on your map marked "WC". Go there, and you'll find a toothbrush left of the sink. Pick it up, then use it on the faucet. Chore 3: Take out the garbage Who: Nancy, after completing chore 2, can't complete until chapter 4 How: This took me a while to figure out. The trash you need is under the sink in the kitchen on the first floor. Take it outside during chapter 4 (when it stopped raining). If you face the piano after you left the kitchen, open the doors to the garden. You'll find two dumpsters behind the shed. Open the lid and dump the trash in there. Note you can get the nail gun and some nails in the shed. Chore 4: Find earrings Who: Nancy, after completing chore 3 How: The nanny will mention she lost her earrings. They are in the living quarters, on the second floor (take the main stairs up from the lobby, take either door and go right into the area under the stairs going up to the third floor). One the rooms has the earrings on a desk. Return them to the maid. Chore 5: Collect laundry into correct baskets by color Who: Nancy, after completing chore 4 How: You'll have to find laundry and take them to the laundry room. Not the most fun chore in the game, and it'll take a while to complete. You can find the laundry in the living quarters on the second floor in various rooms. You will either find socks of panties. Take them to the laundry room on the first floor (next to the garage -- go back to the lobby, and take the door on the left when facing the stairs). Sort the laundry by color. Chore 6: Move meat boxes Who: Jed, in the cold room which opens in chapter 4 How: Jed simply asks you to move four boxes from this freezer to the one in the kitchen. You should know where it is. Chore 7: Find a tool for mechanic Who: Will, in the garage which opens in chapter 4 How: Head into the storage room and take the keys from the wall on the left. You need to open the middle cage, where you'll find the tire iron. When you pick it up, the cage will close. Use the keys to open it. If you somehow forgot to grab the keys, you can use telekinesis. Chore 8: Find the tapes Who: Michael, in the garage which opens in chapter 4 How: Found in the living quarters on the second floor, in the hallway. The so called lost & found box. This is also labeled on your map. Chore 9: Find a bottle of 33 wine Who: Alastair, in the bar which opens in chapter 4. How: Go in the wine cellar near the garage.
