Japan. Crowds of spectators are gathering around in anticipation of the first full solar eclipse of the twenty-first century. My name is Some Cruz, and I am a high school exchange student studying abroad in Japan. I live near the Hakuba Shrine, an ancient shrine with strong ties to Japanese mythology. Mina Hakuba, the only daughter of the shrine's caretaker, is both my classmate and my childhood friend. I started making my way to the shrine to see the solar eclipse with Mina. But, for some strange reason, the stairway leading up the shrine felt longer than usual, as if something was trying to keep us from our destination. When I finally managed to get through the shrine gate, and my senses began to dim... The pitch black sun is holding chaotic darkness together, trying to rouse a sleeping soul as if looking for its missing other half... ============================================================================== Characters [CV.03.01] ============================================================================== Soma Cruz - Some is a high-school exchange student living in Japan. On his way to the Shrine of the White Horse to view a solar eclipse, he's suddenly knocked unconscious. Mina Hakuba - The daughter of the shrine's caretaker and your classmate and childhood friend. Genya Arikado - An extremely cold and powerful man, Genya Arikado. Seems to be intimately familiar with the prophecy of Dracula's ressurection. Graham Jones - The founder of a new religious sect with horder of devout followers, Graham is rumored to possess magical powers. He was born in July 1999. J - The man called J suffers from amnesia caused by a traumatic incident in 1999. Though he can't explain why, J seems to possess magical powers. What brings him to Dracula's castle? Yoko Belnades - Yoko has been sent by the Church to investigate the prophecy of Dracula's resurrection. Her last name should sound familiar to long-time Castlevania fans. Hammer - The army dispatched Hammer to investigate the Shrine. Instead, he decides to set up a shop in front of the castle, where you can buy and sell equipment. ============================================================================== Walkthrough [CV.04.01] ============================================================================== Watch the little conversation and move to the right. Be sure to hit any candles and other objects you see on your way, because I won't tell you to hit them. Notice you absorbed your first soul and you can use it by holding attack and up. Some words before we'll start: * If I missed something, please let me know... * Always hit candles, lights etc. to gain money and hidden items * Kill the monsters on your way; you'll need to level up ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Castle Corridor [CV.04.02] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right. In the next room just keep on moving to the right, killing the zombies that bump into you. Watch your steps already, because no matter how stupid they look (with their chopped heads), they still do 7 HP damage to you. In the next room, move down the stairs and kill the bats. Grab the short swordands go down a bit futher. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Underground Reservoir [CV.04.03] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to the left, follow the hall and in the next room you'll find a pendant. You can go to the right if you want some Tasty Meat. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Castle Corridor [CV.04.04] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go back to the stairs and go to the right. Kill the Mermans here and grab the ability on the platform. You can now use L to backdash. Move your way up again (on the right side this time though), but don't enter the new room yet. Go a bit more up again and grab the cape that's waiting for you. Then enter the new room. Go to the right, until you meet the first boss. This guy is pretty easy and weak. He has two different attack. When his back begins to glow, he'll shoot a fireball (always at the same position). When he moved his arm back, he'll swing with a bone (aka move back). Just keep hitting him till he dies. I suggest to use spears (up and attack) when he swings his bone. Continue to the right and grab Castle Map #1. If you want to save go to the room on the right. When you're done, return to the point where you got the map and go down. Kill the bats on your way, and the Peeping Eye. Hit the wall to the left for a secret room. Enter it for a Mind Up. Now go back to the right. In the next room you'll find a new ability. The ability to jump higher and fall down slower. Go back to where you found the Castle Map #1. Now work your way up. At the top, you'll need to use your new ability to get to the other side. Defeat the white dragon and grab the Potion (bet you would have done it anyway). Into the next room you'll be able to get a Potion and a Leather Plate using the new ability. Also hack away all the candles to find a Big Heart. Take the stairs on the right to continue to the next room. The next room isn't a problem. Use the new ability to get the Potion, but forget about the armor and the stairway for now. No matter how hard you try, you won't be able to get there. So work your way up, work your way down again and then go right once again. Get the Scarf here and go back to where you first saw the Zombie Soldiers. Instead of taking the upperright door, take the lowerright door. Keep going to the right until you are outside again. If you want to save, go right. If not, drop down. Go left, and work your way down. Take the right door for a potion. Go to the left to find $500,-. When you're done, go back to the point where you dropped down again. Go right and you'll meet Graham Jones. He'll tell you some things you'll prolly like to know. Continue to move right. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapel [CV.04.05] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The fun part is about to start. Keep going right until you enter a big room. Work your way to the lower right and climb the tower. In the next room you'll be able to get the Rapier using the Float Ability. Now get back to the tower and drop yourself down. There is a saveroom to the left, and I suggest to save now, because a nice boss if coming your way. So if you're ready, drop down all the way and go to the left until the boss music starts to play. If possible, stand on a platform and throw spears at him. If you run out of MP though, just attack him with Melee Weapons. If he moves a bit back, he'll swing his tail at you, but this won't happen much. The boss prefers to shoot fireballs at you. When he's going to shoot, make small jumps each time, or you'll land into a fireball and does around 60 Hp damage. When you're done playing, jump on the platforms and go to the room on the right to find a Silk Robe. Hit the top floor to open a secret room When you go back, watch out for the new monsters. Drop down and continue your way until you get to the... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Study [CV.04.06] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- A new area... Go to the right, and follow the path. Drop yourself down and go left to find yourself in some sort of library. Kill the witches and the ghost here to find a Bastard Sword on the left side of the room. Go back to the beginning of the Study again (you got a better weapon, that's the reason why we went there). Drop down until you reach the kitches or whatever it is. On the left is a Uncurse Potion. Work your way to the right. You'll come in a room with a box, but you can't use it right now (well you can move it, go ahead). Drop down, and follow the path to the left. After a short walk, you'll end up in a new room. Kill all the enemies and drop down into the hole. To the left is a savegame room. To the right is a new character to meet. Notice how she reveals that Genya Arikado is actually Alucard. Continue to move right until you come to a point where you have to choice again. If you go right, you'll find a coin (I smell a secret here, but can't find anything). So go back and drop down. Take the right side, and you'll come in a room with a strange head. If you turn your back to it, it'll open. So simple stand next to it, turn your back to the head, and use backdash to get in. In this room you'll be able to find a Whip Sword. Go back to the dropdown room and go left this time. Prepare yourself for a boss-fight. Really easy boss. Equip your Whip Sword and just hit him. When he moves his arm back just back off and attack again. When the boss is finished, go left and talk to Hammer, who tells you he opened a shop. Also grab the new ability that allows you to jump again in mid-jump. Remember the room with the box (you better do)? Go back there and push the box to the left, so it drops. Then push it to the right and you'll be able to get the Broadsword. Leave the room, and enter it again. This time, push the box to the right and enter the room above you. Here you'll find the Heart Pendant. Now go back again and take the upperleft entrance. Go back to the beginning of the Study. Now go right, drop down, work your way up again and take the upperright door. You'll find a hammer here (in case you didn't get it yet from a Rock Armor. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapel [CV.04.07] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now go back to the room where you saw the Zombie Officer. If you use the double jump ability and the float ablity, you can reach the upperleft entrace. If you didn't get the Winged Skeleton soul in the beginning, you would certainly be able to get it here :p Just work your way up and follow the path. In the big room, if you go to the lowerleft entrance, you'll find one bottle of Anti-Venom. If you take the upperleft entrance, you'll find a warp gate. Try it now. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Castle Corridor [CV.04.08] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok see how it works? Let's do some stuff here, and then go back. Go to the right until you're outside. There are two towers here. Each tower had a Killer Doll (and a light holding $50,-). In the right tower, when you drop down is a Cestus. Don't miss it. Go back to the room right of the warp gate and drop down. Go left and you'll be at the gate again. Talk to everyone. Don't buy something from the shop yet, we'll do that later. If you use your double jump ability, you can climb the right side of the room and you'll find a Lucky Charm. When you're done, go back to the warp gate, because we have some unfinished business to take care of. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapel [CV.04.09] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go all the way back to the room with the many many ghosts (I obtained my Ghost Soul here, and the change you did as well is pretty big). Take the stairs to enter a big room. Work all your way to the top (you can walk on the small bells) to get a Mind Up, High Mind Up, High Potion and the Bamboo Sword (from where you get the High Potion/High Mind Up, drop yourself down where possible and go left from there to find the Bamboo Sword). Remember the room with the platform you couldn't reach, even with the float ability? Guess what... you can now ;p Go to the room and enter the next room for a Copper Plate. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Castle Corridor [CV.04.10] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to the room where you first saw an Armor Axe. You can now work your way up and find a Lance. If you want to sell or buy items, visit Hammer at the gate. If you're ready, work your way to the top of the room and enter the new area. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dance Hall [CV.04.11] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hooray, another new area. You should have 27.8% of the map explored right now. Walk to the left to meet J. Continue your way to the left. You'll in a big room with Dancing Ghost. Just keep going left. After a while, go up, left, drop down and go right to find another Warp Gate. Go back to the lower level of the room with the Dancing Ghost and drop down into the hole. Keep going right, then drop down and continue your way to the left for $500,-. Go back to where you dropped into the hole. Now go down and follow the way. When you see a blue door on your left (boss-door) go right to save or left to fight the boss... It's pathetic how easy this one is. Equip the lance, then kneel before his feet and keep striking at him. He'll never damage you as long as you stay near his feet and kneeled down. Go left to obtain the Skeleton Blaze. Notice the green monster. Keep returning until it shows and you can get his soul if you want to get a special ring to get souls a bit cheaper. You might want to come back later because you'll have a bigger chance of catching it. Go all the way back to the Dancing Ghost room and be sure to pick the High Potion on your way back (using the slide you just learned). In the Dancing Ghost room, you can now get the Cutall. Return to the Warp Gate and go to the Study. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Study [CV.04.12] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did you perhaps remember a red book you couldn't reach? If not, look for the only room in the area you didn't visit, you should head there. Slide your way to the other side and get the red book (Ancient Book 1). Now continue to the left. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Forbidden Area [CV.04.13] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This reminds me of Metroid Fusion. Especially the music is great at this moment. Just too bad you can't enter it yet. Return back to the warp point in the Dance Hall. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dance Hall [CV.04.14] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to the long unexplored hallway and continue to the right. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inner Quarters [CV.04.15] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Continue your journey here. You'll end up in a tower with quite some stairs. If you take the right middle door, you'll find a maid here. If you take the middle door on the left, you'll find a bunny who'll do strange things. You'll pass him later. The top left door is a saveroom and on the right side on top is a boss that wants to play with you (how cute). The first form is easy. Just hit, back off etc. The second form is a bit harder. Just hit the man when he's floating in the air, but back off when he uses spells (he summon two heads or try to strike lightning down on you). The third, true and last form is pretty hard. Just strike as much as possible and heal when needed. Don't hold back. Go to the right and up. You'll be on the roof of the castle. Work your way up. You can get a Hrunting on the left side. After you got it, go to the right side. Here you'll get Undine. Go back down and go to the lowerright. You'll be able to walk on the water now, so continue your way. In the tower, work your way down again and follow the left path to find another Warp Gate. Go back and go down, then go right for a new area. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Top Floor [CV.04.16] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go right and you're done here already for now :p ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Castle Corridor [CV.04.17] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walk all the way back to the place where you got the float ability. If you use undine, and walk almost all the way to the right, you'll end up in a room you couldn't enter before. Follow the way to end up at the... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Floating Garden [CV.04.18] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- You'll see a cute chocobo :D... Take the second lift up, then go right to find Castle Map 3. If you work your way to the top, you'll be able to visit some room that are shown on top of the map. You can various goodies here. Anyway, take the first lift up and follow the path to above. Then go left. In this room, all the way in the top of the room, you'll find $500,-. Go left for a room that looks exactly the same, and $500,- again. Go to the left for the very same story. Then go left once more to end up in the... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clock Tower [CV.04.19] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- You bump into Graham here. I don't like him anymore :( Anyway, go; 2 left, 3 down, 1 right, 1 down, 4 left, 1 up, 2 right, 1 up, 1 left, 1 up, 1 right, 1 up, 1 left, 1 up, 1 right and finally 2 up. You'll be able to get $2000,- on your way. Left is a boss, right is a saveroom. Let's have some fun with the new boss. This boss has two forms; in form one, he'll control a sickle. This form has 2 different attacks; it will spin around really hard and will chase after you, or it will fire beams at you. This form is really easy and shouldn't cause any problems. The second form is a bit more tricky though. Death will appear itself, and he'll have a big two-sided sword. He can do 3 different attacks; He'll throw his sword away, and the sword will come back, or he'll let the sword spin around in the whole room or he'll come down and rushes at you. When you're done, go left for the Skula skill. Go back to where you came from, but stop in the room with 2 clocks and a wooden bridge. Equip the Skula ability and go down. From here, go left, then down and right to find the Burtgang; a mystical sword of protection. Now go all the way to the left and down to find a new suit. Go back the the water and go right this time. Work your way to and go right for a new warp gate. We'll visit some areas to find some stuff we missed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Underground Reservoir [CV.04.20] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go back the the place where you got the piece of meat. You can use undine to reach the platform you couldn't reach before to get the Elfin Robe. Now go to the far right and use your Skula ability and go down. Go left to find Rahab's Sword. Go back to where you landed and go right two times. In this area, you'll not only find King Triton, but also a Super Potion. If you follow the path to the right, and go down, you'll have a save room to the right. Go down a bit futher and keep going left. Then go down and slide down to get a Mana Prism. Work your way up to send up where you already were before. You just explored a nice part of the map ;) Now go back to the part where you got the Float ability. Go down here using the Skula abilty. Well what have we got here, you'll be able to explore even more of the map. If you explored all the pieces here, you'll find $1000,-, Milican's Sword and another reward; a nice big map. However, now it's time to get serious. Go back the the place where you found the Mana Prism. Follow the path to the right, until you come into a new big room. Go to the lowerright corner of the screen and enter the door here to find the Water Armor. Now go all the way to the left, until you have to choice between down or left. Go down and kick the wall to the left to find a hidden room with a pudding. Now go back. Go left and... Yoko will be stabbed by Graham (you can hate him now). Genya will join the fun and tell you he'll take care of Yoko (why doesn't Soma trust him? it's just Alucard after all). Go left, and go down and follow this to find a High Mind Up. Go back and go left to enter a new area. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Arena [CV.04.21] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go left and then work your way up. When you go right after a while, you'll find another warpgate. Go back and work your way up. In the upperright room awaits a High Potion. Go to the middleleft room, and follow the hall to find a Laevatain. Go back to the tower. Leave this tower and go left once again. Drop down and go left for a saveroom. If you go right you'll see a lift. Don't use it yet though. Go through the door and continue your way to the right (watch out for those damn statues though). You'll see a big ball. Stand in the middle of it, then hit it so it'll go right. When it passes you, turn around, and hit it so it'll go left. Repeat this until the wall is broken. Enter the wall and stand still (CHOP!), now get the Olrox's Suite. Go back and go down. Go to the far right (jump on the button on your way there) to get the Balmung. Go down and go right. Jump on the platform and be prepared for some small game; you have to press the direction shown on the display. When you do this till the end, the wall will explode and you can get a Rare Ring. Go back and go left for a boss fight. The first form is the hardest. Just keep striking in his eye and try to avoid his hands. The second form is easy. Just keep jumping and hitting him in the other eye. Go left to find the Giant Bat ability. When you go back right, you'll meet J. He reveals his real name; this is Julius Belmont. Go back up, one room right and up from where the saveroom is. If you transform into a bat, you can go up now. If you go all the way up and right, you'll be able to find $1000,- in the candle to the far right of the hallway. The warp gate is waiting for you, so we can grab some stuff we missed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dance Hall [CV.04.22] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go back to the Dance Hall and visit the only room you didn't visit yet, which is the roof-chamber (or whatever). You'll be able to get a High Potion (not totally sure) here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inner Quarters [CV.04.23] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go back to the Inner Quarters (walking). The first room of the Inner Quarters contained a High Mind Up you couldn't reach, right? Now you can :) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Castle Corridor [CV.04.24] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is an area here you didn't explore yet. Go here. First follow the path a bit (don't go to the unexplored area yet). See that weapon, get it now you can transform into a bat. Now go to the unexplorer area. It will lead to the Clock Tower, but more important it's close to a Warp Gate. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dance Hall [CV.04.25] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also here is just an area you didn't explore yet. Go here for a Tallhammer. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Underground Reservoir [CV.04.26] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also here is just one area you didn't explore yet (2 actually, but you'll need to check the big unexplorer room). If you take the entrance somewhere in the middle right of the room, and then in the new room, you go up, you'll find the Yellow Book (Ancient Book 3). If you go down and to the right, you'll find the Rune Ring. If you back and down, you'll end up somewhere that doesn't look very promising. However, there is a secret room on the right side. You'll find the Osefune here. Go back once again, and go left. Go down and follow the path to find a Super Potion. Go back again, and go up to find $2000,-. Finally done here ;p Now let's get the handgun. As you see, there's only one area we didn't explore yet (you've been there when you got the Super Potion). It's the waterfall (see the secrets section for more info). Head there (on your way there, also check the rooms for a Warp Gate). If you're there, and you fly all the way to the upperright corner of the screen, you'll be able to enter a room you saw before, but couldn't reach. The handgun awaits you here. Restore your MP (by waiting or using a potion) and go back and fly to the left. You'll find the Ronginus' Spear here. Again, see the secret section for the waterfall part, because you can get pretty much items here (and one of the strongest weapons AND armor in the game). There is one part you didn't explore yet. If you go there, you'll end up at the... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Underground Cemetry [CV.04.27] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go all the way to the right, until you see a platform. Go up here and go right for a saveroom or left for $2000,-. When you're done, go down again and head right for a boss. Not really hard (especially at a high level because I forgot this part and found out about it later). Just keep distance and chop away. I recommend using the Ghost soul when you are heading up, to still damage him. When you win, and you were fast enough, you'll get his soul. Keep heading right for the Galamoth ablity. Go back the where you say the platform and go up and right for the Gold Ring. Go back and left for a High Potion. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dance Hall [CV.04.28] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember the Bunny in a hall you couldn't enter? You can whack him now :) If you explore the part left of him, you'll find Dainslef and... THE BLUE BOOK! Weee! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Castle Corridor [CV.04.29] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to the Zombie room (the first room you enter when you play the game). In the next room, use the fly ability to get Vjaya. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Top Floor [CV.04.30] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return here, because now you use the fly ability to explore this part. When you arrived, work your way to the top, using the left way and leave the room on the right side. Go right again to find a high Potion. Go back and and a bit up. To the right is a warp gate. Go up, to the far left, down and to the far right to find Satan's ring. Go back left and up. There is a hidden room above you. Go back and go up. Keep going left till you are in a garden. If you end up outside, near the ceiling, use the fly ability and to left and up to find a Mana Prism. If you go back and fly to the left, you'll find a Kaladbolg. Go back and work your way up. If you see a knight with a pink knife on the left, go to the right room for a Mana Prism. Go back and left for you very last boss fight. So kneel down before this spot and slash away. When you goes the middle of the room and he only summons black things, kneel before him and he can't hurt you. Then slash away. The third, true and last form is pretty hard. Just strike as much as possible and heal when needed. Don't hold back. This form has 2 different attacks; it will spin around really hard and will chase after you, or it will fire beams at you. This form is really easy and shouldn't cause any problems. The second form is a bit more tricky though. Death will appear itself, and he'll have a big two-sided sword. He can do 3 different attacks; He'll throw his sword away, and the sword will come back, or he'll let the sword spin around in the whole room or he'll come down and rushes at you. This will give you Claimg Solais. #005 - The room in the Chapel where you found the Silk Robe has a weak ceiling #006 - When you got Satan's ring on the Top Floor, go left and up and hit the ceiling to find the Gungner #007 - In the room with the Iron Golem (Top Floor) on the ride side is a weak wall with the Hippogrpyh ability If you know more, let me know please! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to Go Through the Waterfall ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Equip Undine and Curly's soul. Stand go to the left side of the screen and hold L. You can also use the MantiCore soul. Other souls may work as well. Your reward will be the Eversing. You'll also be able to explore a pretty big part of the map and find tons of money and new weapons. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to Get Past the Black Misty Door ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get a good ending for this. See below on how to get this. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to Get Past the Chronomage (Bunny That Sends you Back) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to Legion (after beating Death and taking the Skura soul). Somewhere around here, you'll find the Galamoth's soul. This negates times magic and allows you to get past the Chronomage. Kill the Chronomage to get the Stopwatch ability, so you can kill the Sky Fish you see flying by as a ball of blue and white in the underground area. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get 3 Different Endings ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bad Ending - Let Gharam beat you in his Dracula form Normal Ending - Get the Flame Demon, Giant Bat and Succubus soul, equip them and fight Graham the normal way. You can enter the mystical black myst door. First go left from the room where you fought Graham to find a new ability and Dracula's Tunic. Then go to the black myst door (it's near the flying Skeleton). First you'll have to find Julius, which is an extremely hard battle. Then you'll end up in a parallel universe. From here on it's pretty straight forwarder. You'll be able to find 3 saverooms. Good luck on the last boss (piece of cake). Beat the first boss, but lose to the second one. Good Ending - Get the Flame Demon, Giant Bat and Succubus soul, equip them and fight Graham the normal way. You can enter the mystical black myst door.
